Senior PGA Championship to promote 'Let’s Move on Course' program during the tournament
Professional Golf Association of America will use the platform of the 72nd Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid to promote health and fitness benefits of walking. The program with the name, “Let’s Move on Course” will
start on 24th of May at Valhalla Golf Club and will run through 29th
of the month.
The news was confirmed by the spokesperson of Stryker, a company sponsoring free pedometers in execution of the program, and David Donatucci, director of fitness of PGA of America via the official website of the tournament.
The spokesperson for Stryker stated, “We are thrilled to partner with The PGA of America to encourage people young and old about the health benefits of exercise through the ‘Let’s Move On Course’ initiative.”
He further added, “Stryker takes pride in the advancements being made to get people moving and back to wellness. We are also proud to partner with Fred Funk, a member of the Championship field at Valhalla and who has received a
knee replacement through Stryker, and brings this message to life.”
Donatucci also said that the PGA wanted to promote healthy life style through golf, thereby; they were drafting several plans in fulfilment of the agenda.
PGA tour has named May as the National Physical Fitness and Sports Month and to promote the cause they started a program, which would encourage people to walk on the course. According to the details, the participants of the program
will walk behind the golfers on the entire course and by the end of the session, they will track down the number of steps they took through the free pedometers that have been sponsored by Stryker for the cause.
According to further details, the pedometers sponsored by Stryker will be given off in a booth stalled at the 13th hole village. Five thousand pedometers will be dispatched during the session on first come-first-served
basis. The participant who wins the bid will be given a “Let’s Move on Course” certificate signed by PGA President Allen Wronowski and by a player on the field.
