Senior Tour win for Tim Thelen
Tim Thelen secured a Senior Tour win after giving a legendary performance at the Berenberg Bank Masters. He also received 60,000 Euros as prize money at the Golfclub Wörthsee in Munich.
On the first day of the tournament, Thelen had four birdies on the front nine. On the back nine, he had three birdies and a bogey on the 13th hole. He finished the day six-under par, as he had no double bogeys or eagles.
On the second day, Thelen had four birdies, one on the front nine and three on the back nine. This was his worst day in the three-day tournament.
He required 68 shots to complete the course. His total score became ten-under par.
Thelen had a remarkable start to the third and the final day of the tournament. Hi carded an eagle on just the first hole. Unfortunately, he scored a double bogey right after that.
Later on, he registered two birdies and two bogeys on the front nine. On the back nine, the-51-year-old had only four birdies.
So, his score for the day was five-under par. As a result, his total score for the tournament became fifteen-under par and was three points clear of Peter Fowler.
After the match was over, the American was given a trophy by the tournament Ambassador Gary Player. In his winning speech, he said, “I can’t actually put it into words what this means to me”.
“To beat these guys – real legends of the game – makes it so special to win here. It feels amazing and I actually can’t believe it right now. Guys like Bernhard Langer, Barry Lane, Peter Fowler and Mark Mouland are real legends of the game,” he continued.
In the tournament, the world number one Peter Fowler, world number two Mark Mouland and Barry Lane finished tied at the second place.
All of them ended at twelve-under par and received an amount of 30,000 Euros.
It was a fine overall performance by Tim Thelen. Analysts believe that he can still pull it off again. He just requires the right amount of practice and patience to shine on the golf course in the upcoming events.
