  1. Keep looking, there are jobs out there. Don't blame the seniors, they need the work as much as you do.

  2. Get out and turn over a few stones, My kids found jobs at aco hardware. And there are a few plastic factories. There ARE jobs to be had you might not like them, (dirty work) but there are out there.

  3. Get back in collage.......or you could be one of those seniors working in the mall............

  4. Everyone needs a job now....and some employers may find 'seniors citizens' a better option (either due to work schedules or needing someone more than for a summer - for those teenagers going back to school in the fall).

Keep searching at the companies that you would enjoy working for.  After all, Abercrombie probably would rather hire an 18 y.o. verses a 68 y.o.  :)  Also, broaden your horizon.  Seasonal businesses will be hiring (swimming pool stores, landscapers & supply companies, builders, etc) both on the field and office work to help fill the gaps.

Another option would be to be a sitter for the summer.  You control your hours and get cash for your work.

Definitely recommend college in the fall - a little sacrifice now will help tremendously for a successful future!

Best wishes!  Jobs are out there....but in this economy, they're a little tougher to come by!
