I am 18 and going to be a senior this year and I am starting to worry about college. As of now, my GPA is about 2.5. I am trying to get it up to a 3.5, something that I dont think is impossible. There is also another problem. I am going to move right after high school, but to where is still a mystery. How can I plan for college when I dont even know where im going to be in 12 months? Does anybody have any ideas ast to what to do this year and what to do about college?

  1. If you live at college that's where you'll be in 12 months!

  2. Unless you get high A's, you will not raise your GPA that much. I tried, and did pretty well, but it only went up .5. If you're moving after high school, you can apply where ever unless you want to be close to home. However, public universities will lower your tuition if you lived there the school year prior, so you may want to consider that.

Work hard, and take your SATs and ACT (yes, both, some schools prefer one over the other). Start your essays now, your GPA is too low for you to get into a good school without good essays. Start volunteering in what interests you, applications now request resumes, so you can pad yours with volunteering. Do not suddenly join a lot of school clubs, admissions will know you're trying to seem more active.

And finally, just apply where ever you want to go. Then, you'll have plenty of back-ups and the opportunity to choose from your options.

  3. well, sorry bro, but that is impossible, as you would need like a 4.8 to make that 2.5 into a 3.5 and also, most colleges only look at 10th and 11t h grades. In addition, you have no SAT scores? Extracuricullars?

look to go to a community college and transfer out to a good school

  4. Focus on your education, even if it means not going to the movies with your friends every weekend.  If you want that higher GPA, you are going to have to work for it really hard.  It's going to be really tough doing it in just the year you have, so you have to give it your all.

Get a tutorer if you really need one.

And about college, you don't have to go where you live.  You can go wherever you want to go, that's what dorms are for.  You can always visit your family during holidays.  It's the time in your life to move on and make your own life on your own.  So don't be afraid to be away, you can't always be around.
