It better be, by the way inflation is going up.  I think it is 11%.

Theresa - COLA is the Cost of Living Allowance that normally gets tacked on to the SS check at the end of the year.   As the Govt. does not count food and gasoline in the COLA allowance, we might hit 5% maybe more.   But how much will we see - very little I am sure.  Do not like to be a pessimist by King George will still be on the US throne when the percentage gets handed out.   All we can do is pray for more and bigger raises in the future.

USA here, I do not have a lot of hope.  For whatever reason neither food nor energy is included in escalating expenses.

I think it definitely will. Our CPI is rising at above 5% in the UK at the moment and things are looking as if they are only going to get worse. If the cost of living adjustments aren't made to keep up then we will all be left behind and we will suffer a severe recession. I don't think the situation is so severe in the US though.

Cost of living allowances affect everybody young and old. The addition to SS checks is a drop in the ocean compared to the changes in wages and salaries. If you earn an income Momma Jo the adjustments affect you more than the pensioners.

I think we are very lucky if we get the 5% they are considering . As a Soc.Sec. recipient,i will gladly take what ever measly amount they throw to us!
