Sensational result for trainer Pat Rosney in second round of Peterborough Derby
The new 420m track record holder at Peterborough’ Little Sensation returned last night for the second round of the Derby where he stunned the crowd in sensational style with a victory over local dog Rotar Wing.
The duo were paired off against one another in heat two, a race which should have really gone to David Pruh’s Wing after he broke extremely well and was able to take lead after the first bend, but towards the end seemed to run out of steam, slowing down and allowing Pat Rosney’s Sensation to claim victory by a length and clock 25.33sec.
The fastest time of the night came in the opening heat from Kinda Handy who was quick away and led without facing any problems. The Mark Wallis trained charge clocked 25.22sec, whilst Jacks Back followed three and a quarter lengths behind.
Lainedans Flyer overhauled early leader Southhill Boyo in heat three to finish first in 25.47sec, where favourite Droopys Cruff battled on late for second in 25.72sec.
Heat four was reduced to four runners when Peggys Way also came out after the overnight withdrawal of Blood Of Kings.
Step On Lee absolutely pinged to make all in 25.25sec, chased by Tearaway John who claimed second in 25.61sec.
Fierce McHugh was slow away and ran off at the bend, was last in fourth, but made a last second surge for the line to finish in third ahead of Millwards Siren to steal the final qualifying spot.
