Question:

Sense of humor difference?

i'm american. i got bored so i decided to check out y'all's site. someone said y'all watch a lot of american tv, but the sense of humor is different, so you don't find it funny...

what exactly would you classify ours as, and what is yours?

  1. Yes I agree with the other post. Australian's sense of humour is slightly different to the American one, plus we are just a little "tougher" we dont take offense as much and we can put up with things like swearing. Yours is American, ours is Australian thats just the way it is.


  2. I don't know that the differences can be defined in such a way as to write a list.

    Try writing your own list on what you find funny.

    That said I do know that Australians are more able to laugh at themselves and the world around us and are we also are more tolerant of things in the name of comedy.

    Yet to say we don’t find American comedy funny is a joke.  

    To be totally honest I wish we found American shows and other TV/movies less entertaining as there is an over supply of American TV.   Right now is a bad time to look due to the Olympics.  **** more imported TV.  Why not see how much American stuff is pushed on us.   Visit www.smh.com.au then look at the local TV guide.  

    On a personal note.  

    I am not into slap stick type comedy.

    For me clever use of the English language is excellent, or sneaky double meanings.

    Plus things happening that were not expected.
