Sensi supports Roma against Bayern
AS Roma's president, Rosella Sensi, has said she is supporting her team ahead of Wednesday's clash with Bayern Munich despite putting the club up for sale.
With manager Claudio Ranieri having brought in defenders Paolo Castellini and Nicolas Burdisso and added AC Milan striker Marco Borriello to the team, Roma were expected to make a confident start to the Serie A season.
But after drawing newcomers Cesena at home in the first round and being thrashed away to Cagliari in a 5–1 defeat over the weekend, the optimism surrounding the club has faded.
But Sensi, speaking to the press ahead of the team's departure to Munich, said that she is fully supportive of her team, despite the disappointing performances so far.
"I am not angry with the team, we are all angry and sorry because I am convinced my players did not expect such a start," she said. "We all have the same ideas. We want to do well. A reaction in the Champions League? I expected a reaction in Cagliari, but it did not happen."
Ranieri's team will now be accompanied by the president as they travel to face the German champions at the Allianz Arena.
"I am here with the team to be close to them and support them. I hope things go well. They have to refind their morals as they are professionals."
Sensi's support comes despite the fact that on Wednesday, Unicredit Bank confirmed that the Sensi family, whose assets in Roma were passed over to the bank in July, would be putting the club up for sale.
Defensive formation against Bayern
Despite Bayern being without wingers Frank Ribery and Arjen Robben for the Champions League encounter, Ranieri will likely make some defensive adjusments to his 4-4-2 formation before Wednesday's game.
Brazilian trio Cicinho, Adriano Leite Ribeiro and Julio Baptista could all feature against Bayern.
Right-back Cicinho rejoined the side after spending the first half of 2010 on loan at Sao Paulo, while troubled striker Adriano made the switch to Roma from Flamengo this summer.
