Sensible game play takes Ricky Walden on top of 2012 Wuxi Classic – Snooker Update
Final encounter of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament between the Englishmen, Ricky Walden and Stuart Bingham, was being considered as the most thrilling game of the tournament. Both Walden and Bingham performed stunningly in the rest of the tournament,
making their way into the final encounter of the event.
They knew the kind of pressure they were going to face so they had to adhere to it in the opening proceedings. Walden was playing quite easily without getting any pressure on him.
In his post match interview with World Snooker, Walden said, “I think the first two frames were massive. The first frame, I felt like I hadn't settled down and Stuart seemed to be getting the upper hand. When he missed and let me in I managed to get a couple
of snookers to put the pressure back on.”
He added, “I think it sets the tone for the rest of the match and I took advantage of a few of his mistakes, potted a few big balls in the opening five or six frames and I managed to keep a decent lead.”
Walden proved to be the one to handle the pressure sensibly with his cool and calm sense of playing which dragged him into early lead of the match. He took control of the proceedings in the opening session and grabbed a four-frame lead at 4-0 to push his
opponent down. Bingham, on the other hand, was unable to handle the pressure of being in the final encounter of the event and slipped down.
The second session started the same way with Walden’s fifth frame victory to move one frame up at 5-0. Bingham had enough so far so in order to release the pressure off him, the Englishman came back strong with the maximum 147 break in the sixth frame and
claimed the frame to add one on his side of the score board. The rest of the session was taken by Walden once again dropping Bingham six frames down at 7-1.
After that, the winner of the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open snooker event bounced back again with three frame wins but they were nowhere near to unnerving Walden. Meanwhile, Walden ensured his victory by the score line of 10-4 with another three-frame
triumph.
