I got my perm. crowns almost 2 weeks ago - and all the sudden they are very sensitive, one hurts at times, it actually made my gums bleed last night, but it I touch them they are sensitive, I try not to eat on them - if anyone who reads this has crowns did this happen to you - and p.s I know I need to call my dentist not ask questions on here, but I dont like going there and if there is something I can do at home then I would rather do that -

Thanks in advance -

  1. I've had them hurt for a few weeks.  More of a sensitivity to hot or cold or biting down on something.  But not a continuous pain, only when I "used" them.

The bleeding is odd.  It's possible that he needs to grind the surface of the tooth down a little bit, if your opposite tooth is biting down against the new tooth differently than the old one (or too hard) then that can cause extra pain.

For the most part, sensitivity is just due to the trauma to the root from having the old tooth ground down to nothing :P  99.9% of the time it just goes away

  2. It is possible that the occlusion isnt right.  There might be some overhang of cement where the contacts meet which is collecting bacteria which would cause the bleeding.

  3. Sounds like they may be hitting to hard when you close .  call & go back & have occlusion ckecked by DR.  DocW

  4. looks like you need a root canal treatment on that tooth.
