Sensor touch to microwave oven

Ewave under the counter microwave Model KOT-151S Serial # 2020 396  The finger touch sensor is very difficult to wwork.  We usually have to warm the numbers with a cigarette lighter in order for the touch to work and that is after several times.  It was made in Feb. 2002.  Please advise. Thanks Jan Kraft
