Sentimentaljourney likely to prevail in Bond Pay - Safeway To Pay Handicap Hurdle
Sentimentaljourney is likely to prevail in the Bond Pay - Safeway To Pay Handicap Hurdle at Chepstow in England on Thursday, March 22, 2012. The winner of the class-4 event will be awarded with a cash prize of £2,274.
A total of 17 runners were initially attracted towards the event, which is scheduled to start at 4:20 GMT, but Armedanddangerous will not be taking part in the race, as he suffered an injury.
This leaves 16 runners in the field and their names are: Sentimentaljourney, Hazy Bay, The Red Laird, Henry Hook, Jomade, Kathleens Pride, Gilwen Glory, Outside The Box, Danderry, Hunters Lodge, Mauricetheathlete, Le Burf, Azulada Bay, Philadelphus and Timetoring.
The bookmakers have full faith in the abilities of Sentimentaljourney, who has not been in very good form over the past few months. However, he is considered to be a quality runner, thus the punters will put a lot of bets in his favour.
The five-year-old gelding has taken part in eight hurdles until now, winning just one of them. He also secured the runner up position on three occasions, which suggests that he has the ability to fight for the top spot.
One thing which will work against Jonjo O'Neill’s trainee is his current form. He has been unable to deliver strong results recently and his last race saw him finish fourth. This was still not a bad result by any means, as there were 15 entries confirmed
for that event.
The bettors will also be looking forward to place bets in favour of Sentimentaljourney because of his rider, A. P. McCoy. He is one of the best jockeys in the business and has managed to win 538 races over hurdles in his career.
On the other hand, Henry Hook will also be the one to watch out for at Chepstow. He has quite a lot of experience in racing over hurdles, as he has entered 20 of them. However, his strike rate in unimpressive, which will discourage the punters from risking
money on him.
Victor Dartnall’s trainee has won just a couple of hurdles in his career out of 20 attempts. Other than that, he has secured a couple of runner up spots as well.
The eight-year-old gelding will be partnered by Harry Derham, who has won just five races over hurdles.
The real battle will be between the top two favourites, as the remaining participants do not seem to have any chances of winning.
