Sepang welcomes MotoGP 2011 pre-season tests – MotoGP news
After a long wait, the World Motorcycle Grand Prix Championship (MotoGP) will resume action next week when the world’s best riders gather at the Sepang Circuit for the first official test of the year for three days starting from February 1, 2011.
Sepang International Circuit (SIC) chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Razlan Razali said the MotoGP riders last tested their bikes last November in Valencia, Spain after the final race of 2010.
“MotoGP will be back and the action starts here in Sepang. The new season looks set to be the most exciting ever,” he said in a statement.
Datuk said that the testing session of 2011 season will start on February
1. The fans can gather and witness some real deal of action while MotoGP stars practice on their mean machines at Sepang Circuit on Tuesday.
“There’s Valentino Rossi with the Ducati team for the first time, Casey Stoner with Repsol Honda and joining forces with Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso, and Ben Spies taking over from Rossi at Factory Yamaha Racing. And there’s also the Moto2 champion,
Toni Elias,” he said. “All are potential world champion this year and very capable of challenging the current world champion Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo.”
Ahmad Razlan said circuit will open its Main Grandstand for fans to come and have a great seeing their heroes in action.
MotoGP riders will first be having two sessions of three days at Sepang, from February 1-3 and February 22-24.Test sessions for Moto2 and 125cc will be held in Spain. From February 10-12, they will start their first of three-test sessions.
The third and final pre-season test for MotoGP riders will commence on March 13 and 14 at Losail in Qatar, following by the 18-round World Championship beginning on March 20 with the Qatar Grand Prix.
In conjunction with the MotoGP pre-season testing, SIC, which will host the second-last event from Oct 21 to 23, will be having a special early bird ticket promotion for the 2011 Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix.
