How do you separate a tank to have to halves: water, and land for a turtle? (a home made idea would be great, but purchasing would be fine)

  1. you can buy deviders at petco or petsmart that do what you want. I just used plexiglass, plastic and cut it to fit the way i wanted then used sealer to bond it.

  2. Are you trying to provide a basking area, or 'land' for egg laying?  It would be easier to answer, if we had some idea of exactly what you're attempting to do.

    If you're looking for a dock/platform - try this:

As for providing a land area for laying, most people place a box atop the cage, with a ramp access which is 'walled off' with high sides so the turtle can't fall out.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, and good luck with your project.

  3. Hi, I'll attempt to draw out my idea using paint. XD

Well what you do is you have the fish tank right? Thank in the center, lay sticks, on the half you don't want water, place sand. You can also place rocks and so there too.

Heres my drawing, the blue rectangle represents the bottom of the tank, the brown are the sticks and the red is the sand.

    Hope I help!

You could also use a baby pool and do the same thing, its easier. XD

  4. aquatic turtle ..land out of sand is a bad idea it will foul up your water and filter.

He needs more water than land anyways.

Did you know that they need to bask under a reptile light for  8 to 10 hrs a day for the vitamin D that  they need to grow.

Leave the heater on 75 to 78 degrees always.

Their water needs to be clean otherwise they get sick easily from dirty water cause they p**p allot.

You need a good filter system!

You need to feed them feeder guppies, goldfish or minnows for protein and calcium daily.

They need leafy greens for vitamins at least 3 to 4 times a week.

And a big tank 55 gallons or more..
