Separtion of church and state?

in our country we have "separtation of church and state" meaning that goverment and religion are not to be linked

do we really have a separation of church and state?

how is religion a part of society?

what examples of religion are in your everyday life?

Money has "in god we trust". The pledge of allegiance has "under god". That's really the biggest ones I can think of right now. American law is constantly changing and now in our time the constitution is an old book being interpreted to benefit anyone who uses it.

As someone else mentioned, nothing in the Constitution refers to "separation of church and state".  And it is incorrect that the two are not to be linked.  In fact, they have always been linked - and most Americans feel they should be.

Phrases on religion are in the Constitution to ensure that no one religion controls the government, NOT to ensure that religion plays no part at all.  

Religion is responsible to one degree or another for the very ethics that inform and shape our society - through our laws, traditions, celebrations, mores.  

There are many examples of religion in my everyday life, because that is how I set my life up, and that is the way I like it.

When our forefathers stated "separation", they were referring to making it illegal for one religion to be forced upon all, not that they are to never have a link.  Almost all of the founders and signers of the constitution where CHristian, and this country was founded on Christian principles and people came here to have the freedom to practice Christianity.  This country was origianly meant for Christians, but also for anyone to practice any faith.  I don't think there is anything wrong with keeping that in our history, but it seems that most people don't want anything to do with God.  They want him removed from everything.  I find that silly to "erase" history just because you don't believe in what it stood for.  Should we change the colors of our flag so it's more modern and up-to-date??  of course not!!  It's part of history and has a lot of meaning.  So what if you don't like the color red or blue.  So why are so many people fighting to get God's name taken off everything as if it offends them?  It's just part of history, showing what faith this country was founded on; it doesn't mean you have to agree with it.

I find our society today has separated God from everything, in attempt not to offend people who don't believe in him.  Kids are getting kicked out of kindergarten for praying during snack time.  That's pretty "separate" to me.  The only role religion has in society today, is that people are fighting about it and it is becoming less and less tolerated in more and more areas.

i am a christian, but i do not have a set of religious rituals that i follow every day.  i have the faith in my heart, and it helps me to be a better person to others in my life and gives me a peace of mind that there is more to life than work and taxes.

This 'separation of church and state' is not in the Constitution. Bill of Rights was written to Restrain Government not religion.
