Seppe Smits and Aimee Fuller prevail in 2011 Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam – Swatch TTR World Tour
Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam 2011, the fourth 4Star slopestyle event of the 2011/12 Swatch Ticket to Ride (TTR) World Snowboarding Tour, wrapped up at Schladming in Dachstein, Austria, on Saturday, November 12. In the men’s field, the Belgian sensation Seppe Smits managed to secure the highest spot on the podium, whereas Britain’s Aimee Fuller emerged triumphant in the women’s field.
The rest of the podium in the men’s field was filled up by Sweden’s Niklas Mattson and Australia’s Matthias WeiBenbacher, who finished in second and third place respectively. Slovakia’s Cilka Sadar and Switzerland’s Sarka Pancochova rounded out the second and third position in the women’s field.
Celebrating the ninth anniversary of the Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam at Horsefeathers Super-park Dachstein, the latest TTR World Tour event attracted a handful of extremely talented riders, both men and women, from all around the world to participate in the battle for glory. The conditions on offer were nothing short of perfect, allowing the snowboarding elite and rising talent to come forward and entertain the crowd to sensation tricks and spectacular style.
The competition went through its Qualification round on Friday and sent the in-form riders to the Final, where they faced a list of invited riders. The day promised intense battles as the battle for the victory and TTR points was about to commence.
The men’s field saw each rider with three runs to come up with something that would simply leave the judges stunned. A handful of spectacular performances were put forward, but Smiths eventually stole the show with outstanding runs and precise jumps.
Talking to a reporter after the Super-Final, he said, “Really good! It was a good day, I was killing it, the setup was good and I had a fun time – lovely!”
Mattson came up with a pretty impressive performance as well and convinced the judges through his skills and style to give him the second best score. The 19-year-old WeiBenbacher, however, turned out to be the sensation of the day after drilling through the qualification round and finally grabbing third place in the Super-Final.
The women’s field was featured an intense battle between Fuller, Sadar and Pancochova. The crowd and judges witnessed a series of epic performances, but as the dust settled, it was the Great Britain-based Fuller who got her hands on victory. Ecstatic over her first TTR World Tour victory, the British sensation said, “I’m speechless and incredibly happy! This is my first victory ever! I had such an amazing time here, with the sunshine every day – what else could you possibly want?”
Sadar and Pancochova had been nothing short of sensation either, but eventually had to settle for the second and third place respectively.
Swatch TTR Snowboarding World Tour promises a heavy dose of exciting freestyle snowboarding action and that is exactly what was delivered to the fans by the extremely skilled and talented riders from all around the globe during Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam 2011.
