  1. Yes, I agree with first poster.

SEPTA buses has fleet that use pull cord or maybe press tape.

Before it approach your SEPTA bus stop, you must press/pull cord except for #127 bus. SEPTA Trolleys #13, #15, #34, #36 is also same reason.

#127 bus travels through suburb area where bus stops are less, and after pressing button or tape, ask bus driver to drop you off along certrain street as driver think it is safe to do so.

If you're boarding along #127 route, you may flag in suburban area along its route.

  2. Hi fellow SEPTA user!

A SEPTA bus is not going to stop at a certain point unless someone signals to the driver that you would like to get off at the next stop, unlike a train or subway which stops at every stop. This signaling is done usually two ways. First you will either pull the cord (which is available throughout the bus) or press a button (in the handrails by the rear door).

Also, if you are right up front, you could actually tell the driver the name of the street you would like to get off at. However, that is not the preferable thing to do because sometimes the bus is crowded, and you are really supposed to exit by the rear door. But if it's not crowded at all, most drivers won't mind you leaving through the front door.

And yes, some bus routes don't stop at every corner, so it will usually only stop at the signs with the route's number on it. As you ride the bus more, you can watch and see how your fellow passengers act as they are about to leave. They pack up their things, get up out of the seat about a block before their stop, and position themselves at the rear door when the driver pulls up to the stop. If you wait until you the bus is AT your corner, and then get out of your seat..there's no telling that he may pull off before you can get off the bus! :)
