Question:

Septoplasty on thursday....... im so scared?

please could anyone email me with good stories of having a septoplasty, im having mine on thursday and im so scared, i cant sleep and i just want to cry, is there anything you can tell me to make this nicer? and what do you recommend to make me feel good about it before and after? thanks please only good answers i cant hear any more scare stories!

  1. Considerable swelling and bruising can be expected. The nasal cavities may or may not be packed, and a piece of gauze is taped underneath the nose to absorb blood. Postoperative care includes frequent changing of this gauze (roughly every hour or so) and after 1 to 2 days, the excess bleeding normally stops and the inner nasal packing may be removed. The following day, saline irrigations of the nasal cavities are often advised, and it is only now that a patient is allowed to gently blow his/her nose. After 1 to 2 weeks, patients are allowed to blow their nose normally.


  2. It will soon be over, you will have a lovely straight nose and be able to breathe clearly.

    Lots of celebs choose to have it done for cosmetic reasons.   Think how much they have to pay and if you are going into an NHS hospital yours will be free!
