  1. advantages: Faster, you cant accidentally skip gears

Dissadvantage: you cant move up or down more than one gear at a time eg 5th to 3rd, you have to go 5th to 4th to 3rd

They lock or jam sometimes and you cant change out of the gear for a few seconds

  2. The sequential shift tranny are just automatic with manual control.  The advantages are they are easy to drive, easy to shift (manually).

The disadvantages are they are NOT real manual so you don't get the max acceleration, HP, MPG.

Most Formula type racing have moved over to sequential shift type tranny because they are faster to shift and they have plenty of power already.

    Good Luck...

  3. Advantages are: quick, easy tap-like shifting with a straightforward (literally) shifter. Disadvantages may be: compromising for either an automatic or semi-automatic car, however, Mitsubishi has began to use this technology in the new EVO's. One quick push on the stick to upshift, and the same goes for downshift. However, it is exciting technology that is undergoing many track tests, even for racing purposes. I would reccomend you test drive a sequential car, then try a regular manual, see which one fits your driving style best, and go with that. I should know, I have a sequential shifting car myself.
