Serbia look to make it to finals at 2011 CEV European Volleyball League
The Women’s National Volleyball Team of Serbia will face the Czech Republic in the first semi-final of 2011 CEV European Volleyball Championship today, Friday, July 15. The Final Round of the tournament is being staged in the Turkish capital city of Istanbul.
The famous Burhan Felek competition hall in TVF Sports Complex will set up the field of play for the Final Round matches. All eyes are set on Serbia as they are generally believed to be the better team in the competition even though they are struggling to
grab the title trophy for the third time.
Serbia was grouped with teams from France, Spain, and Greece in the preliminary round of the tournament. Serb ladies put up a valiant effort in the six weeks of preliminary round and didn’t allow anyone to stay in the way of their killing spikes. The appeared
in 12 matches and finished the early stage of the tournament without any loss. Serbia was the only team in the prelims of 2011 CEV European Volleyball Championship, which finished with the final score 12-0. They comfortably paved a way in the final round of
the tournament.
From the other side, Czech Republic joined Serbia in the Final Round. Czechs were regarded as the underdogs in the competition but they proved to be better team and found a place in the final round. They played equal number of matches and finished the prelims
with a score 9-3. The semi-final against Serbia will be the real test of their abilities.
Czech side will feature the following players in the crucial semi-final match:

The mentor of the Serbian team, Zoran Terzic, shared his thoughts about the final round of the tournament and stated, “We just hope it will be like last year and two years ago, we want to win this competition once more. It is not going to be easy especially
since our competitors have become stronger and stronger”.
