Serbia overpower Croatia in preliminary round, Group B: Day four – European Water Polo Championships
Serbian squad overpowered Croatia in their third Men’s water polo qualifying match of Group ‘B’ on day four of the ongoing 2012 European Water Polo Championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands on Thursday, January 19 at the Pieter van den Hoogenband Swim Stadium.
The match was pretty tough from the start, where both teams displayed their ruthless efforts to prove their dominance but Serbia surpassed Croatia by a margin of three goals. The Serbian squad grabbed victory in their third match of the tournament by making
the score 15-12 in the four-quarter event.
Both teams demonstrated their unrelenting efforts in the first quarter. The first goal of the game was accomplished by Croatia’s Maro Jokovic, but after thirty seconds, Serbia’s Milan Aleksic scored first goal for his team to level the score. One more goal
was notched up by both sides in the first quarter and the round expired with a 2-all effort.
Serbian squad served notice of their talent in the second round, where they accomplished six goals in just eight minutes to prove their supremacy. On the other hand, Croatian squad was able to respond by scoring four goals and the score went up to 8-6 after
the first half.
The third quarter saw aggressive efforts of Croatian team, which tried hard to supersede Serbia on the scorecard, but failed to achieve so. Both teams were able to score three goals against each other and Serbia managed to secure its lead of two goals as
the score remained 11-9 after the third round.
In the fourth round, Serbia succeeded in asserting their dominance over Croatia as they marked more goals in the final round. The Serbian squad accomplished four goals in final round while Croatian team was able to improve their score by three goals and
lost the match with a lead of three points.
Vanja Udovicic of Serbia achieved three goals in the game and cemented victory for his team. In addition, the session came to an end after the completion of all scheduled matches while Serbia will now confront Romania in its fourth match on Saturday, January
21.
