Serbian Volley Masters start in Strand – Beach Volleyball news
The 2011 CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship Serbian Masters officially started today, Wednesday, July 13, in Strand, Novi Sad. The tournament is scheduled to continue until Sunday, July 17.
The event has invited 70 teams from 28 countries for the prize money of 50,000 €. The opening day of the tournament featured Country Quota Playoffs, which will be followed by the Qualification Tournament on Thursday. The 32-Team Main Draw stage will be opened
on Friday. The single-team elimination will reduce the number of teams on the second day of the Main-Draw and only 16 teams will move forward to play on Saturday. The final day of the tournament will bring out the best four teams of the tournament for the
semi-finals and medal matches.
Aleksandar Boricic, the President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia and CEV Vice President, has played an instrumental role in organising this tournament in Novi Sad, Serbia. He is always keen to work for the promotion and development of Indoor and
Beach Volleyball in the region. He believes that Serbian Volley Masters will be a good effort to attract young aspiring players to the court.
Boricic is very optimistic about the bright future of Beach Volleyball in Serbia. He stated, “We are very proud to see that players and Volleyball fans in Serbia have recognized our efforts and embraced this sport so passionately in such a short term. We
believe that this event and the performance of some of the best European athletes will encourage our young players to devote themselves to this attractive and popular discipline”
The host country, Serbia, will be represented by four tandems in the tournament. Three of them are already confirmed for the Main-Draw Stage, while one pairing has to go through the process of Qualification.

The duo of Stefan Basta and Igor Tešić are expected to create some buzz on centre court. They have invested a lot of their time and energy in preparation for the home series. It is shaping up to be a unique opportunity for the pair to take advantage of the
familiar conditions and showcase their best performance.
