Serbian goalkeeper Zeljko Brkic flattered by Tottenham Hotspur interest but prefers Serie A
Zeljko Brkic, the 25-year-old Serbian goalkeeper, revealed that while he was flattered by the interest from English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, he was not certain if he was ready for a move away from his current side Udinese, from where he is
currently out on a loan move to Siena.
Brkic said while speaking to reporters:
“I have heard that Tottenham scouts are looking at me. But at the moment I am fully focused on Siena.
People in the club say that they are satisfied from me and I am very flattered. Hard games are ahead, some great challenges in Serie A and I hope to raise the level of my performances even more.”
Brkic began his senior career with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FK-Vojvodina-c39358, staying there until 2011 after which he transferred to Serie A side in the summer transfer window. However, he has been sent out on loan to Siena so he can receive regular first team football experience.
Since joining Siena, Brkic has already made five appearances in the league and has done really well, earning his new manager’s praise. The improvement in form has earned him interest from various clubs, including Premier League clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur.
However, the Serbian goalkeeper revealed he was not ready for a move away just yet and was entirely focused on the Serie A side. He admitted the interest from the Spurs had indeed been very flattering but he was not considering leaving his current team.
The London side are known to be on the lookout for a goalkeeper after reports that Brazilian stopper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Friedel-c7953 this season, Gomes
has hinted he could leave the London side in the next transfer window.
With Gomes gone, Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp will be left with just Friedel and former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlo-Cudicini-c8340. It is for this reason the English manager is desperate to sign another goalkeeper, preferably a younger one, in the upcoming
winter transfer window.
