Serena Williams: I probably played about 20 percent – Tennis News
Former world number one, Serena Williams, has aired yet another arrogant statement about her dismal show against the Dane contestant, Caroline Wozniacki, during the quarter-final of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.
She addressed to the reporters and stated, “The good thing is I could’ve played a lot better. I probably played about 20 percent. You know it would really suck and if I had to sit here and say I couldn’t do any better. That’s not
the case. I just made a tremendous amount of errors. There’s no reason for that. I’m older and I shouldn’t do that. There’s no excuse. I just gotta stop that. It’s silly.”
This means that the former world number one, Wozniacki, defeated the American who was only playing her 20 percent. It is a probably a disgrace to someone who deserves all the good words for her astonishing and monumental victory
after going through one of the tough times at the courts. Williams might have covered it up by saying that she don’t want to make any excuses but she already did by stating that she was not playing her best.
She is 30-years-old now and the game play usually depletes along with the stamina as well especially for women because there body has already taken a lot of toll in their 20’s that it declines to assist them further. She is ranked
11th at the moment but will break into the Top-10 players of the world courtesy to her impressive performance in Miami.
It is high time that she should abstain from putting forth such statements that creates a lot of rumours. She is definitely a true legend but might probably destroy her status by whining like this every time she loses a match.
One of her eye-catching performance came against the sixth seed Aussie starlet, Samantha Stosur, in the fourth round of the Sony Ericsson Open. She defeated her in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 to cruise into the quarter-finals. She should
be taking that into consideration and look to improve her stamina and ability to absorb pressure. It might help her cause better.
