Serena Williams all set to have a go in Cincinnati – Tennis News
Former world number one, Serena Williams, is looking to continue her blistering run of form at the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati when she kicks of her first tournament campaign after a short break by the end of the London
Olympics conquest.
The opening round exit at the French Open seems to have changed the whole course of play for the American superstar who has been incredibly invincible ever since the start of the Wimbledon Championships.
She won the title at the grass courts of Wimbledon by defeating the third ranked Pole starlet, Agnieszka Radwanska, and continued to power down her opponents at her home soil in Stanford where she successfully defended her Bank
of West Classic title.
It is a remarkable achievement for someone who is 30 years of age. However, age is just a number for the American fourth ranked superstar and the way he slaughtered her opponents on her second visit to Wimbledon for the conquest
of Olympics gold can’t be described in words.
She was ruthless against everyone and didn’t even showed any respect at for the reining French Open Champion, Maria Sharapova, in the final; bamboozling her with a bagel and breadstick. Such is the class of the second women in
the history of tennis to complete a Career Gold Slam.
Reigning world number one, Victoria Azarenka, and the second ranked superstar, Maria Sharapova, are both missing from the line up of Western and Southern Open due to an injury and illness respectively. Pole number one, Agnieszka
Radwanska, will be the top seed and the American superstar will enter the tournament as the second favourite to grab the title.
She is probably going to overpower the betting odds considering her form and most probably take over the third spot in the rankings with a successful title triumph.
Everyone hopes to see a competitive tournament and the one-sided shows of Williams are becoming monotonous rather boring for the tennis fanatics but there is no one to meet the likes of the American with this run of form. She is
definitely going to prevail supreme over everyone at Cincinnati as well.
