Serena Williams cautious of Agnieszka Radwanska’s ambush – Tennis News
Former world number one, Serena Williams, is not overwhelmed by her tremendous achievement so far in the Wimbledon Championships and preparing herself for an onslaught from the third seed Pole, Agnieszka Radwanska, on the eve of
Saturday. It is going to be a very entertaining battle between the two superstars; the American who is in pursuit of her 14th Grand Slam title whilst her counterpart is in the hunt for her maiden Grand Slam trophy.
Everyone believes that the 30-year-old American superstar is the hot favourite to grab the title for the sixth time in her professional career at the All England Lawn Tennis Club. However, Williams thinks that Radwanska is the
hot favourite to clinch the title.
The Pole is ranked superior from her so technically she is the better player. However, the tennis fanatics know that statistics don’t portray the right image of a player all the time and considering the mammoth experience of Williams
and her recent form; smashing aces at her will, she is definitely the one who will start the favourite to win the final showdown.
Williams stated, “I have to go out there and win. Agnieszka has had a better year than I have. She's been way more consistent than me. She's done really well, so she's ranked higher than me. She deserves to be. I have to go out
there and fight for this. This is by no means going to be easy. Never, ever do I underestimate any opponent? She's out there to try to do her best. I really like Aga. She's a great girl."
Radwanska is the first ever woman from Poland in the past 75 years to reach the grand finale of the Grand Slam Championships. So, she carries a lot of hopes of her local spectators back in her country. She will be the underdog
in most of the respects but has the ability to write off some big names.
The recent performances from the Pole starlet have confirmed her ability to power down her rivals. However, she has struggled against the aggressive hard hitters like Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova and Williams is of the
same category. So, it will be a tough task for the Pole number one to defy the odds and clasp the triumph.
Radwanska said, “I will do whatever it takes to make sure I'm ready to play the best I can."
It is going to be a world class finale of Wimbledon Championships 2012.
