Serena Williams confirms her withdraw from the Fed Cup and WTA Championship
The American top tennis ace Serena Williams has confirmed that she will not able to compete in 2010 as her right foot injury is not allowing her to play.
The current world number two American Serena Williams is frustrated and devastated these days because her injured foot is keeping her away from the tennis court. Recently she has withdrawn from the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Championship and Fed Cup
final.
The Wimbledon champion has not performed in WTA tour since her victory in the Grand Slam at the All England club in July. She was expected to make a comeback in the Generali Ladies Linz tennis tournament in Austria previous week but cancelled her plan after
feeling some problem with her injured right foot while practicing in Florida.
The 29-year-old tennis starlet later announced that she had a hunch that she will not be able to perform in any of the tennis events in 2010 and very recently she had confirmed that she has gone through an injury and will not be able to play this year.
According to some recent news reports Serena felt pain during the final practice session of her training in Florida last week and consulted her doctor immediately. According to the doctor she has re-torn the ligament muscle due to over practicing and now
she has undergone another surgery. This means her injury has dragged her out from the players list of WTA championship which will be held in Doha in the end of October and from the lucrative Fed Cup final which will be held in San Diego between Italy and United
States.
In a very recent press conference the 29-year-old American tennis sensation and current world number two Serena Williams expressed her thoughts in a state of despair and told the media that her current fitness condition is very frustrating for her as she
was eager to hit the court as soon as possible but her tough training proved to be a bit too tough for her. She announced that she is withdrawing from the WTA Championships at Doha and the Fed Cup Final.
The foot injury has no doubt created a very big problem for the tennis veteran. The current injury pulled her out of the tennis court at the time when she was enjoying the best time of her playing form as well as the professional tennis career. It is to
be notified that Serena endured the right foot injury in June. Later after the injury she told the media that she had cut her right foot after stepping on a broken glass in a restaurant during a trip to Munich, Italy.
While talking about her condition the 29-year-old said that she had to go through another procedure to repair her torn muscle. Later she thanked her fans and followers for their enormous love and support for her. She added that she will try her level best
to return to the court in full swing.
Williams won the thirteenth Grand Slam title of her career by beating the 26-year-old Russian tennis ace Vera Zvonareva in straight set at Wimbledon in June this year. Her sister Venus Williams is also suffering from a knee injury.
Now the absence of the Williams sisters from the Fed Cup final will result as a weaker team of United States as compared to the Italian team. Whereas Bethanie Mattek Sands and Melanie Oudin will play their single matches in the Fed Cup for United States
in the Fed Cup.
The tennis scene without the Williams sisters will appear a little faded but both the veteran sisters are confident for a stronger comeback and their return to the tennis court is eagerly awaited by their fans as well.
