Serena Williams eyeing for a fruitful tennis season in 2013 – Tennis News

American powerhouse, Serena Williams, has already got tons of Grand Slam titles in her bag, yet her hunger for more Major trophies has not ended. She won her 15th Grand Slam gold this year and aims at pocketing even
more in the upcoming 2013 WTA Tour.
She has already reached the pinnacle of her career but she believes she can improve even further. The current world number three is very hopeful to carry on her onslaught next year and reclaim her lost world number one spot from
the Belarusian beauty, Victoria Azarenka.
"I definitely think I can improve some more," said Williams, "The day I feel that I can't improve, I think that's the day I should probably hang up my racket."
Apparently, 15 Grand Slam titles seems a lot for any other tennis player but the American number one desires to top the list of most Major titles won by any female player in the history of the sport. She is currently behind the
legendary Maria Navratilova and Chris Evert, who have got 18 elite titles each. The most number of Grand Slam titles won by any tennis professional, male or female, is held by the German icon, Steffi Graf, who won 22 Major tournaments in her illustrious career.
Although it seems difficult for Williams to surpass Steffi Graf in the Grand Slam count, she certainly has an outside chance to beat Navratilova and Evert’s shared record of 18 Majors in the next two WTA seasons.
The 31-year-old veteran has been the most dominant female contestant this season, showing her vintage class after entering her third decade in the professional tennis. Williams made her come back earlier this year after a long
injury lay-off and not expected that she would have such major impact on the women’s tennis. He took a steady start in her initial tournaments but once getting into her wining groove, there was no one to hamper her path to glory. She got her real momentum
by winning the coveted Wimbledon Championships for the fifth time, followed by an Olympic gold medal to complete her Career Golden Grand Slam, only the second female tennis player after Steffi Graff to achieve the feat. She closed out the 2012 WTA Tour with
mammoth victories at the US Open and the WTA Championships in Istanbul. Williams plans to seize a couple of more Grand Slams next season, starting from the Australian Open.
