Serena Williams getting ready for the US Open with a new makeover
After the Wimbledon 2010 tournament has come to an end, tennis fanatics are impatiently waiting for the US Open to begin in order to get their daily dose of thrilling tennis matches. Having only a month before this grand event begins, most professional tennis players use this time to relax in order to recover from the exertion resulting from playing at Wimbledon, while others take this as an opportunity to undergo vigorous training to get themselves ready for the US Open.
However, the world number one, Serena Williams, who has recently won the women’s singles title at Wimbledon, is doing none of the above and is busy getting a makeover. She has upgraded her image with a combination of weight loss, glitz management and body image improvement. She has had a fresh bob cut and has started working endlessly on her wardrobe.
At her recent photo shoot at the Wimbledon Winner’s Gala she was wearing a gold Burberry mini dress worth $3500, which she chose with the help of the Burberry designer Christopher Bailey. The dress was perfect for her body and complimented her in every way.
In an interview with the women’s fashion guide, Harper Bazaar, she agreed to the fact that her body is extremely curvy and she is aware that everything does not suit her. This is why she has to work much harder to find something well-suited for her body. This glamorous Burberry dress showed that this tennis diva has indeed learnt her way into the world of fashion.
Now usually when celebrities get an extreme makeover like the one Williams is set out to undergo, there is a scandal or controversy they are trying to get over. Fans claim that Serena’s makeover for this year’s US Open is because of what happened in the US Open final last year.
The tennis superstar got into an argument with the linesperson and was witnessed to have threatened the linesperson. For this, Serena was given a point penalty, due to which her opponent in the match, Kim Clijsters was victorious 6-4 7-5. Serena lost her chance to add another Grand Slam title to her existing thirteen titles. Her attempt to renew her image just before the US Open this year makes it quite clear that she wants to begin this tournament by putting the past behind her.
Seeing how fit Serena is and watching her amazing performances during Wimbledon 2010 where she thrashed her opponents in all the matches and eventually claimed the winning title, it is very probable that in good health this champion will manage to reach the finals in the US Open as well.
Moreover there is a very good chance that she will win this title as well. However, is it possible that the bad reputation she developed last year at this prestigious event is still haunting her and to escape from this she is working on developing a new image?
Williams has managed to change her hair, shes slimmed down her figure and has gotten a spectacular new wardrobe, but the fact still remains – she is still the most dominant as well as the most prominent player in present day tennis. She stands out in the crowd like a shining star and no amount of changes can prevent that from happening.
Let us just hope that weight loss does not affect the tennis player’s game, other than that there is nothing stopping her from setting the court on fire at the US Open 2010, like she has done throughout her career.
Will this tennis star be able to regain back her pride and dignity at the US Open this year with her stunning new image? It sure is worth a try.
