Serena Williams injury, We are still hoping for a quick healing says Jim Curley
The recent report is that the world number one tennis ace Serena Williams is doubtful for the upcoming United States Open championship as a result of her foot injury. Williams damaged her right foot on defective glass at a cafe soon after gaining another grand Slam grass court title. According to the ATP tour statement last week, the American tennis sensation required treatment and would skip the three championships heading towards the Open.
However, this Monday, Andrew Walker who is the spokesperson of the tour told the reporters that Williams is in fact doubtful for the last Grand Slam event of the season.
Williams' come back to the Open has been extensively predictable as a result of her boisterous semi final defeat there last season, when she flicked an angry speech at one of the line judges towards the conclusion of her clash versus Kim Clijsters and was charged a record $82,500.
Due to injury, Williams is skipping the whole World Team Tennis year with the Washington Kastles. Her side informed that she damaged the bottom of her foot and required stitches.
''Hey every one I'm feeling good now,'' Serena tweeted this Monday. ''Thanks for all the concern and care''.
Last Sunday, the women tweeted: ''can't resist getting up from my room and being back on the tennis courts and performing my very best”.
The world number one player from the women’s side, Serena Williams grabbed fourth Grand Slam grass court title and thirteen overall major one back in July 3. The injury happened soon afterwards in Europe and at first was not considered to be critical.
However, the American player, Serena is still likely to retrieve from her right foot injury prior to the US Open as informed by the US Open agent yesterday.
''At the moment we're hoping for her quick recovery. She is relaxing and taking her time to recover”, Jill Smoller, the agent informed in a telephonic conversation. ''She's undoubtedly a quick re-coverer.''
After her foot surgery in Los Angeles, the world number one Serena Williams tweeted yesterday about spending a ''fifth consecutive day in bed. d**n!''
''She will begin practising again as soon as she recovers,'' Smoller commented on Serena present injury.
Williams already has been dropped out of the three hard court championships she was planned to participate in training for the United States Open. The year's final Grand Slam tournament will start from Aug 30th in the city of New York.
She will not play in the Istanul competition from July 26-Aug, the Mason event from August 9th to August 15th as well as the Montreal competition from August 16th to August 22nd, 2010.
The foot damage also resulted in missing the World Team Tennis season for the Washington Kastles for the twenty eight years old Serena Williams.
Conventionally, neither Serena nor Venus who is a seven times Grand Slam singles winner openly talks about injury issues. Serena Williams also skipped the entire part in question.
Serena Williams already February, March as well as April this season as a result of her left knee injury. She stands at 25-4 with a total of two singles trophies this year one at the Australian Open championship and the second one at the grass court Grand Slam event.
She grabbed her very first Grand Slam tournament when she was just seventeen years of age at the United States Open back in 1999. The American girl also captured a trophy there in 2002 as well as 2008.
However, last season as the defending winner, Serena was knocked down in the semi finals by Clijsters.
''Serena Williams is one of the best players of the game of tennis, and we are positive that she will return at the U.S. Open championship. We discuss with her side on regular basis, and will carry on with our communication,'' Jim Curley who is the director of the Open championship told the reporters. ''We still wish Serena a quick healing''.
