Serena Williams is displeased by the security arrangements at Wimbledon – Tennis News
Former world number one, Serena Williams, is not happy with the security arrangements at the Wimbledon Championships. She wants a tighter security that could help her concentrate more on the match and less on the fans who are mocking
her for several reasons. The sixth seed American was extremely annoyed for multiple reasons in her contest against the ‘Golden set’ record holder, Yaroslava Shvedova, of Kazakhstan.
It was an epic three-setter on the eve of Monday that witnessed a gruelling match-up. Both players gave their best shot especially the in-form Kazakh who had considerable odds for overpowering the sixth ranked American in the fourth
round match. She lost the opening set 1-6 but fought back impressively to win the second set 6-2. However, she wasn’t lucky in the final set and lost it 7-5 courtesy some help from the net to her competitor.
Four-time Wimbledon Champion, Williams, was frustrated by her performance and lack of domination in the final set. However, she was also furious at random comments from fans as well. They were so close to her that she could feel
their comments and considering her soft-hearted personality of the Williams just couldn’t absorb the comments at Court Two.
Her walk from court to the locker-room was made one h**l of a ride by the spectators who were mocking the American. Frustration took over and Williams smashed the racquet in distress after losing a crucial point on which she was
penalized and warned by the chair umpire as well.
Williams said, “I was totally mobbed. I thought I was going to fall down after the match. You know, I guess that comes with the territory. It was crazy out there. There were tons of security guards in there just going nuts and
screaming. I've never heard them scream so loud. Maybe that should be taken into consideration."
She is up against the defending champion, Petra Kvitova, in the quarter-final clash. Talking about that, she stated, “Well, I'm Serena Williams; I'm very confident. I was sluggish [on Monday], I was just pulling myself together
mentally. I feel like I can do a lot better. That is very comforting, because if this is my best I'm in trouble." It is expected to be another tight three-setter with the American edging out the Czech in the end. Everyone is eager to witness the big booming
encounter between the two powerhouses of women tennis.
