Serena Williams plans to pacify Venus Williams with an Olympics glory – Tennis News
Former world number one, Serena Williams, plans to pacify her elder sister, Venus Williams, after an early exit at Wimbledon by winning a gold medal in upcoming London Olympics.
Venus who witnessed a first-round exit at the hands of the Russian 79th ranked starlet, Elena Vesnina, was extremely gutted at her departure from the courts of Wimbledon; waved to the crowd in despair and almost broke
into tears during her long walk back to the locker room. However, Serena was able to beat her first competitor, Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech Republic, in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. At last it was a pleasant moment for the American number one who faced
a shocking first round exit in the Roland Garros French Open last month.
Talking to the media reporters, the American said, “I think it's great. I really look forward to playing doubles with her. At the end of the day we're defending doubles champs, even though it's been four years. So that will be
kind of cool to get out there regardless and see what happens, and more than anything, enjoy ourselves. I love playing doubles with her normally, but especially at the Olympics. It's a whole 'another level." Both sisters are playing doubles category of Olympics
and will try to refresh the memories of the time when they ruled the world of tennis.
Venus' loss on Court 2 bumped her younger sister in more grief as she was up next playing in the arena on Tuesday. However, the early scare was washed away with a quick breakthrough that helped Serena to revive her morale. Commenting
about the courts, Serena said, "I'm over it. I don't think she (Venus) felt her greatest going into that match yesterday. But I always want to play even better if she's out of the tournament."
It looks like the 31-year-old Serena Williams has decided to bring some glory to her elder sister who has failed to create a mark at the professional circuit ever since her comeback in February. Maybe, Olympics is the place for
Serena to do that.
