Makarova.
For the other WTA Premier events, she displayed a considerable enhancement in her game plan and improved her rankings on the world charts. She lost in the first round of the French Open, as she was unable to handle pressure by
his French rival, Virginie Razzano.
However, the 31-year-old picked up an unexpected pace at the Wimbledon Champion held in at the All-England Club. She battled past the top seeded players like Victoria Azarenka and the Pole number one, Agnieszka Radwanska. She displayed
her superior experience against all her contenders and gave them straight sets defeats in all the rounds to claim the Grand Slam title.
The American right-hander's win at the London Olympics surely boosted her confidence. She battled against the Russian beauty, Maria Sharapova. Nonetheless, this year seemed very lucky for her, as the Russian was plagued with a
bad stomach in the final round. She slaughtered her and gleefully concluded her win with a 6-0, 6-1 score line.
In an interview with the media, Williams said, “I've won everything. Now I can go to Disneyworld. I did something nobody's done. So I'm really excited about it. I haven't even had time to think about it. I never played better.
I don't feel anything invincible. I don't feel anything. I just feel good about my game and I practised so hard and it was time. All these gusts of wind you then see the flag flying and oohhh it was probably flying to come hug me because the flag was so happy,
it didn’t quite make it but almost."
She was amongst of the top contenders of the final Grand Slam event of the year and remarkable executed her action plan to secure the final victory. Her rankings considerably improved and her dominance on the tennis courts is something
that no other player is of any match.
This year, the American veteran has contested in 12 tournaments and her world ranking has drastically improved. Despite of her increasing age, she claims to perfectly in shape for her future wins and is desperate to return to world
number one spot, next season.
