Serena Williams will be 100 percent fit for the French Open – Tennis News
On Saturday, American number one, Serena Williams, withdrew from the semi-final of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia due to a back injury and gifted the final spot to the Chinese number one, Li Na. However, former world number one
is confident that she will be 100 percent fit for the year’s second Grand Slam tournament, the Roland Garros French Open. Talking to the media representatives, she stated, “On Friday morning I felt a bit of pain in my lower back and if it's not 100 per cent
it's better not to play and make it worse.”
Williams returned to tennis circuit after a major injury lay-off and rocked the world with her mind-startling performances. She trashed everyone in the Family Circle Cup to bag her maiden title this season and squashed the world
number one, Victoria Azarenka, in the final of the Mutua Madrid Open to claim her second trophy.
American tennis ace has climbed her way to the sixth rank in the world after starting the season out of the Top-10. She has been a world class act and never looked to be in any sort of trouble especially on the clay court. The
statistics of 17-match unbeaten streak tells the whole story itself.
She further added, “But I am in good form, I have a few days to get better and I am confident I will be 100 per cent fit for the French Open." It is good news for the entire American nation who must have had a major shock after
hearing the news of her injury. She is rocking the show and no one wants her to be out of action for long because she deserves to be amongst the Top-3 performers of the world at least.
Williams said, “Yesterday I might have had to retire as well. I don't know because we only played a bit and I didn't have time to check my condition." She is 30-year-old and injuries creeps in at this age. It’s not a big deal;
the main thing is that she is still as powerful as she was in her early 20’s. She still smashes the same number of aces as she used to and no one is able to tackle her fiery serves at all.
Rome will witness a final between the number one Chinese superstar, Li Na, and the defending champion from Russia, Maria Sharapova. It will be an enthralling battle between the two in-form players.
