With the fourth Grand Slam event of the year about to kick off, the leading superstars have clearly cited that the American powerhouse, Serena Williams, will be the ultimate destructive force in the mega event. The former world number one has finally came back to her vintage form and is one of the hot favourite for lifting her fourth US Open Championships title on her home soil.
The reigning world number four is having an excellent winning record of 46-4, with five WTA championship titles, including the coveted Grand Slam crown at the Wimbledon Championships. Her devastating run of form is certainly alarming for all of her rivals at the Flushing Meadows and some of the top class performers have expressed their views upon her possible invincible run in the upcoming Major event.
"She has had some issues. That makes the return to the top of the rankings and the top of her game even more exciting," said world number one, Roger Federer, about Williams.
"What we have seen over the last few months is the best player ever," Kim Clijsters commented about the American.
"She gained a tremendous amount of confidence at Wimbledon," four-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova said. "She took that confidence and played just really great physical tennis, served extremely well. Obviously she's the favourite because she won those two big events back to back."
"It's incredible. Nobody knows where she is going to stop and she keeps on going and dominating," said defending US Open men's champion Novak Djokovic. "I'm happy I'm in men's tennis -- not needing to face her."
Well, it has become obvious that the top notch performers strongly believe in the might of Williams and they expect her to display her typical sheer dominance throughout the Grand Slam campaign to reclaim her world number one spot. No doubt her fiery serve and power game is something feared by all professional players in WTA, yet Williams needs to stay focus and avoid any possible injuries to her. So many expectations have been made of her and she is confident to live up to the hopes of her fans.
