The Soviet Cup winner has shared his opinion about the Russian national team’s attacking potential and has urged the trio to work harder in Euro 2012
Former FC Chernomorets Novorossiysk manager, Sergei Andreyev, has praised Russian national team’s offensive players: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aleksandr-Kerzhakov-c4569, respectively.
The trio has been named in the provisional 26-man squad for the upcoming European event, Euro 2012. The aforementioned players, meanwhile, are expected to play their part in the upcoming friendly match against Uruguay at Lokomotiv
stadium on Friday.
Andreyev has heaped praised on the trio, admitting that the offensive players are doing fine with their respective teams in Russia. He has urged the Russian players to impress in the continental tournament.
Kerzhakov, who joined Zenit St. Petersburg from Dynamo Moscow in 2010, is in decent form, having scored 23 goals from 32 Russian Premier League appearances. Igor Denisov, on the other hand, has prospered under Luciano Spalletti.
The 28-year-old midfielder has started 41 games this season.
Andreyev is of the belief that Denisov will continue to impress after recovering from a latest injury. The Russian midfielder is expected to join the training camp ahead of the Euros, later this month.
There is little arguing that Arshavin, who has joined the St. Petersburg club from Arsenal after signing a six-month contract in January, has rediscovered his old form. The prolific midfielder-c*m-striker has scored 3 goals from
10 appearances.
“Under the current scheme, Kerzhakov will play up front, just behind Arshavin, Zenit’s top scorer, and Dzagoev. I really like this setup. Kerzhakov can play for 60-65 minutes and then free up space for a fresh candidate: Roman
Pavlyuchenko or http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pavel-Pogrebnyak-c29501.”
“If Kerzhakov will play like he played last season, he can score a lot of goals beyond our expectations. d**k Advocaat was right to name Arshavin in the squad because he is getting better after returning to Russia. I think Dzagoev
is a good choice too because he can open up defences.” The Soviet Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Andreyev tipped Advocaat, Russian national team’s manager, to stick to the attacking formation 4-3-3.
