Sergei Bubka cripples Tsung-Hua Yang in the round one – Seoul Challenger 2012 CH
World number 187, Sergei Bubka, summed up his three set win, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 at the Samsung Securities Cup Challenger 2012. He gave his Chinese Taipei rival, Tsung-Hua Yang, a cracking defeat in the round one at hard courts of Deco-Turf
in Seoul, Korea. The duo encountered each other for the first time on the eve of Tuesday and Bubka jolted down his win in nearly two hours and six minutes.
The 25-year-old, Ukrainian professional drew the first blood in the opening set and was persistent of his initial serve. He cashed his rival’s serve in the third game and marked a 2-1 lead by the end of the third game. The Chinese
challenger responded by dissolving his rival’s serve and levelled the score line to 2-all. Yang evened out the score sheet again in the sixth game but Bubka dissolved his serve and marked a 4-3 lead. After that point, Chinese completely shattered his confidence
and the Ukrainian professional nudged forward to terminate the initial set with a 6-4 score line.
In the second set, the 21-year-old Taipei professional held his initial serve and fired back classic forehands to make his comeback in the contest. The score line evened out to 2-all in the fourth game and gradually he regained
his lost rhythm against the higher ranked opponent. The Chinese junior was able to attain his desired break in the sixth game and he stamped his 4-2. Despite of his losing edge, the Ukrainian cashed his rival’s serve in the next game in reply but he was unable
to prevail over him. Yang beautifully reeled off the last two games and closed the set with a 6-3 lead.
For the initial part of the final set, the Chinese right-hander held his former pace and continued to respond to his challenger positively. However, when the score line squared out to 4-all in the eighth game, this gave a panic
attack to Bubka. He took a flying start towards the end, as he was desperate to bag home the final victory. He broke his opponent’s serve in the 10th game and in due course of time, stole the show with a 6-4 triumph.
