The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 player expressed his views on the misfiring Cameroonian national and urged the Russian outfit to hold on to the former Inter Milan star.
Former Russian national team striker, Sergei Kiriakov, has accused Anzhi Makhachkala of being responsible for Samuel Eto’o’s poor form. Kiriakov blamed none other than the ambitious Russian outfit itself for being behind the misfiring
striker’s form.
It’s been over a year since Anzhi signed the Cameroonian national, making him the highest paid player in the history of football. If speculations are to be believed, the Dagestani club paid http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan a staggering 20 million Euros
for the transfer.
Eto’o has been both criticized and applauded for his performances in Russia. Though the prolific striker maintained his goal scoring habit right after moving to the Russian top division, Eto’o has failed to impress during the third
league round when Anzhi needed him the most.
The former Barcelona striker has scored just 8 goals in 17 outings as Anzhi fight to claim a European spot in the league. With 5 games left to play, the Dagestani club are at the seventh spot and trail the fifth-spot by 4 points.
Kiriakov admitted that Eto’o, who has failed to score in the last 7 matches, needs to work harder in order to help the Russian outfit claim a decent finish at the end of the ongoing campaign.
Reports in Russia suggest that the Eto’o is unhappy at the Russian outfit and is considering a move back to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 during the upcoming transfer window.
"Everyone can see him unhappy in Russia. The Cameroonian is not happy with the quality of the fields and the level of Russian football. I think Anzhi are now playing in a different manner than before, playing with a lone striker.
They need to build a game to help Eto’o.” The Legends Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Kiriakov urged the Cameroonian striker to stay in the Russian top division and start scoring goals in the remaining matches of the season to ease some pressure off Guus Hiddink’s shoulders.
