Dynamo Moscow ended Volga Nizhny Novgorod’s dream of reaching the Russian Cup finals for the first time in the club’s history after defeating them 2-1 in the semi-final at Arena Khimki.
The visiting team had gone ahead through Andrei Karyaka’s strike but a Zvjezdan Misimović penalty was followed up by the 86th minute strike from Andriy Voronin.
Dynamo now have a decent chance to win the prestigious cup of Russia. They meet Rubin Kazan in the final at FC Ural’s home ground, Yekaterinburg stadium.
The fact that the Moscow-based club came from behind to stun the opposition at home delights Sergei Silkin, who urged his side to win the cup tournament for the second time in the club’s history.
Silkin praised his side after the win, admitting that they were the better team on the pitch. He revealed that Dynamo have won difficult matches on their way to the Cup finals and pointed to the quarter-final tie against Zenit
St. Petersburg.

"We would have taken a lead during the first half had we taken an open chance. But I think the entire team showed great character, fought till the end and achieved the desired result. We went in to the game, knowing that the opponent
will attack. So, because of the limit on the foreign players, we had to seriously modify the composition to fit into the regulations.” Silkin was quoted as saying.
Dynamo had to pay a large sum to Anzhi Makhachkala in order for them to part company with their prized asset, Balazs Dzsudzsak, during the winter transfer window. Silkin went on to defend their latest signing, revealing that the
former PSV-Eindhoven player played a decent game against the Volgari.
