The USSR Cup winner believes Anzhi Makhachkala can finish above Lokomotiv Moscow, Rubin Kazan, Spartak Moscow and Dynamo Moscow on the Russian Premier League table
Simurq PFC head coach, Sergei Yuran, has backed Anzhi Makhachkala in their quest to claim a UEFA Champions League berth this season , despite starting the third Russian Premier League round on a low.
The mega-rich Dagestani club are at the seventh spot on the league table, having claimed seven points in five outings during the round. However, they are just four points adrift of the third-spot, currently occupied by Lokomotiv
Moscow.
Yuran has urged the ambitious Russian outfit to claim maximum points in the remaining games of the campaign if they are to play in Europe. The former Sturm Graz player revealed that Anzhi’s season will be considered as a failure
if they fail to claim the European spot despite having a star studded squad.
“The Dagestani club is now one of the most discussed topics in the league. I think only money cannot solve complex problems in football. Makhachkala bought high-level players and their game has significantly improved.
“I think the fans still need to wait a bit to see their team win silverware. It’s still too early to draw conclusion. Hiddink needs time to adjust because the process of team building takes time. I think they will finish above
