The controversial Portuguese manager was dragged in the headlines as former Primera Division official, Sergi Albert, blamed him for refereeing controversies.
At some point Jose Mourinho had to get involved in the ongoing refereeing controversy that saw http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604’s 3-1 win over Sporting Gijon.
The former Manchester United defender’s rant against the match officials in the post-match conference continues to fill the headlines in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011, with officials from both, Barcelona and the referees union, coming out in the media with their respective
views.
The Real Madrid manager was dragged into the midst of the blown out affair as former referee, Sergi Albert, claimed that Mourinho should be held accountable for the growing trend of criticising referees.
Albert believes that Pique is not the guilty party and if the President of La Liga's Refereeing Technical Committee (CTA), Victoriano Arminio, wants to get to the root of the problem, he should look at Mourinho’s past endeavours.
"I do not understand all the fuss about Pique's comments rather than about Mourinho's behaviour this term. He is the one who has started all this and has heated things up since joining Real Madrid. Why are we not talking about him?" Albert said.
Continuing on the subject, the former official shared his opinion that referees can be wrong and can act premeditatedly. However, Albert believes Carlos Velasco Carballo was in the right to send Pique off, after his challenge on Miguel de las Cuevas.
"There's always a possibility that someone in a certain group acts premeditated. It would be nonsense to deny that. I do not think this was the case with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Velasco Carballo though. If we create all this fuss every time a mistake is made, things
would go crazy."
With respect to Sergi Albert’s views, former arbiter, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 Garcia de Loza, had contrasting views as he came on the support of Gerard Pique, stating that La Masia graduate is being unfairly treated by the referees.
Regardless of the intensity of the foul, Garcia stated that the red card was excessive for the occasion, but added that Pique should have kept quiet after the match.
