The representative of Atletico Madrid striker, Sergio Aguero, has confirmed that the Premier League duo of Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in signing the striker in the summer transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur had a 30 million-pound bid rejected for the Argentinean on the last day of January transfer window. Sir Alex Ferguson and Carlo Ancelotti now look set to lock horns to secure the signature of the 22-year-old.
Aguero’s agent confirmed that both United and Chelsea have monitored the player throughout the season. He confirmed that the player is open to a move in the future and wants to play regularly in the UEFA Champions League.
Aguero played a huge role for Los Colchoneros in winning the UEFA Europa League in the 2009/10 campaign. Atletico Madrid have struggled in the 2010/11 campaign and it is very unlikely that they would qualify for the Champions League next season.
The Red Devils might make a double raid on Quique Sanchez Flores’ team, as they are also interested in signing their goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-de-Gea-c10463. With Edwin Van Der Sar set to retire from professional football at the end of the ongoing season, United are definitely in the market for a new shot-stopper. According to the reports in Spanish media, United are close to completing a deal for the 20-year-old.
Aguero’s agent confirmed that the striker wants to test himself at the top level and move to either of the two sides would be welcomed.
“Players like Sergio (Aguero) are always being tracked by the world’s top clubs. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan, and Barcelona. These are the clubs that regularly monitor the best.
“Sergio is still only 22 and he has had only four years in Europe playing at a club which is not a regular in the Champions League. Obviously the boy would like to play football at the highest level. But there is nothing concrete at the minute; we have to look at things in the summer.” He concluded.
That being said, a hefty price tag of 40 million pounds placed by the Madrid based club might put-off the suitors in pursuit of the player.
