Sergio Gabriel Martinez on the verge of destroying Julio Cesar Junior – Boxing Special
Sergio Martinez and Julio Cesar Junior are inching day-by-day towards most probably the toughest and highly anticipated middleweight bout of 2012. There are several factors involved which make the bout a charismatic and exciting one.
The controversy between the two men, their rankings in world boxing charts, and above all the respect and determination to be number one, are a few factors out of many that have already heightened fans' expectations and eagerness to become a part of an explosive
showdown.
In addition to the above, some latest verbal onslaughts by the two pugilists have also ignited, in fact added explosives, to the already fired up scenario. Apart from all the fuss and craze among the masses, the odd-makers are throwing their life-earnings
on a 37-year-old veteran who is entering his career’s 54th bout.
The question is why everyone is hypothecating Sergio Gabriel as the winner of the bout and ignoring the WBC middleweight champion Julio Junior? A statistical and technical bird’s eye view of the resume of both men clearly gives the answer.
Sergio is far more experienced than Julio Junior. The difference does not lie in the number of opponents taken on by both men but in the quality, calibre, potential, talent, worth, and above all respect possessed by the opponents who recently collided with
either Julio or Sergio.
The Argentinean Martinez has collided with heavy duty names like Kelly Pavlik, the seventh best middleweight in the world, Paul Williams – the former world champion, Serhiy Dzinziruk also a world champion who in fact lost his gold in his seventh continuous
title defence bout to Martinez via eighth round technical knockout and many other top ranked pugilists.
The brawlers who can be considered as easy targets for the ‘Maravilla’ were either Matthew Macklin or Darren Barker who in fact are also dubbed as the best men in the division.
A brief glance at Julio’s resume only disappoints the critics as he has fought belligerents who are nowhere to be found in the top rankings. The only one man that Julio can boast a win over is Andy Lee, the world number 10 middleweight.
In a nutshell, Sergio has literally swiped the whole division whereas Julio has almost evaded all the ace pugilists in the division. This experience factor only heavily places the odds in favour of Gabriel and leaves no choice for the critics to depict Martinez
as the winner.
Apart from the above mentioned aspect, Sergio also has a unique advantage of speed and agility. Martinez is undoubtedly known as the speediest puncher and the most agile brawler in the middleweight division whose accuracy, resilience, swiftness and each
and every quality is increasing with every passing day.
The one thing that mesmerises the boxing fans especially Martinez’s fans is his prime form despite being 37. Sergio still brawls as if he is a 22-year-old and has nothing to lose, is perfect and cannot be snapped apart.
Julio, on the other hand, is massive abut is not as speedy as Sergio. This is the second significant aspect that will give Martinez an upper hand over Julio, as the Argentinean will use his speedy arms and punches to drill Julio’s face and once it is done,
we will see Cesar junior on the ring floor bloodied and battered.
Apart from the above two reasons, there are several others that unanimously pronounce Sergio as the winner of the bout. The duo will meet at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States on September 15, 2012.
