Sergio Garcia ends four-year winless streak on the PGA Tour
One of the leading Spanish players on the Professional Golf Association Tour, Sergio Garcia, hails from Borriol, Spain.
The Spanish golfer turned professional in 1999 and plays on both, the PGA Tour and the European Tour.
He has twenty four titles to his credit, out of which he has won eight titles on the PGA Tour and ten on the European Tour.
With no major championship titles to his name, the Spanish golfer has shown some high level performances in the championships.
In 2004, he tied at the 4th place after a scintillating performance in the Masters Tournament. His best result on the U.S. Open tournament came in 2005, when he shared the third place.
The storyline of the third major championship is somewhat different, as he came in second place in 2007 after a nail biting finish to the tournament.
In 1999, the Spaniard claimed the second place in the PGA Championship and likewise, tied at second place in the 2008 version of the tournament.
Garcia has had his share of a dry spell. He remained winless for four years on the PGA Tour till he won the Wyndham Championship this year.
Garcia has not been able to perform on the Tour the way he once did, with eight titles on the tour it is not a bad tally for a man of his caliber. However, with inconsistency affecting his game, he has had trouble in converting his second place finishes
into wins.
Since the Spanish professional golfer won his first PGA Tour tournament this year, he has shown glimpses of the game that once made him one of the top contenders on the Tour.
He had a major part to play in the Ryder Cup that was held this year. Playing for the European Ryder Cup Team, the Spaniard outplayed his American rivals and steered the European team to victory.
With a glimmer of hope shown by the 32-year-old golfer during the 2012 season, there are chances that he will be performing like the true Spanish great that he is.
With the new season about to start, many golfers will come out flying, but with Garcia on the prowl, the top contenders have something to worry about.
