Sergio Garcia hoping for home success
Sergio Garcia wants to win at The Castello Masters this week. Sergio is now on course after taking two months off and now that he is back, he wants to reach the pinnacle of the sport.
Lucky for him, his first game after the rest is in his native Spain. He does agree to the fact that he will really have to work hard to be as emotionally charged as he was two years ago when he won the event.
Sergio said that the first edition was a very ‘emotional’ moment for him. This was because his good friend and an amazing player had been diagnosed with a brain tumour and also because all the Spanish golfers were really trying to have a European Tour event
take place in their home club.
It was also a very special occasion for Garcia because he was triumphant at home, in front of his friends, family and the people of Castellon. Winning in front of the people who admire you, especially the children of Castellon was such a great feeling for
the player.
“It was a perfect and very special week”, said Garcia. Coming back from memory lane, the Spaniard really praised the golf course he is set to play on this year. He said that he hasn’t seen the course in such a good condition till now. Praising his father
and the maintenance team on their work, Garcia seemed to be really excited to tee off on the Club de Campo Del Mediterraneo Course on Thursday.
The problems that Garcia faced don’t seem that harsh when compared to the difficulties another compatriot has to go through. Jose Maria Olazabal is also giving another shot to a comeback after being diagnosed with rheumatism and tendonitis.
Olazabal has been suffering from poor physical health on and off for fifteen years now. He also appears to be the most probable candidate for the 2012 Ryder Cup team captain. Unfortunately, he missed the cut in July’s French Open, which is his only other
tournament this year.
Olazabal said that even though he has achieved flourishing comebacks in the past, it gets harder as one gets older. Nevertheless, his passion and determination is exemplary and hopefully he will do great on his native land.
As for the eager Sergio, nothing would be better than winning in Spain again. The first round of the Masters will start this morning, and Sergio really hopes to get a good start on his game.
