Sergio Garcia looking for a breakthrough at Abu Dhabi
Spanish golfer Sergio Garcia is all set to get a breakthrough at the Abu Dhabi Open that is about to go underway.
Garcia is all geared up not to make the event one-sided, as prominent golfers like Tiger Woods and the big four will also be making an appearance in the event.
With the desire of winning his first major event, the Spaniard is also prepared to defeat his rival, Tiger Woods.
The last time that the American and Spaniard golfers clashed was 13 years ago, at Medinah, Illinois, at the Ryder Cup.
With the battle taking place nearly a decade ago, Garcia has overcome his weaknesses and various other loopholes in an effective manner to deliver his best at the main event.
His back-to-back victories in Spain have further strengthened his position, showcasing betterment in his potential and skills.
Garcia will be playing his first battle against World No. 2 Lee Westwood, followed by Number 4 Martin Kaymer.
According to pundits, this is the perfect opportunity Garcia will get to demonstrate his capabilities by giving the top notch players a tough time at the golf course.
Woods, on the other hand, will have his encounter with players of his calibre. He will be meeting World No. 1 Luke Donald and No. 3 Rory McIlroy.
According to Garcia, "Everything's good and hopefully I can get on a good start, gain some good momentum and keep riding the wave that I was on. I played nicely throughout the whole season and probably just got a bit more fortunate towards the end".
The 32-year-golfer further added that getting a couple of victories after a series of rough provide one with a dose and boost of motivation.
He also said that Ryder Cup is a main event in golf and performing well here carries great reward for a golfer.
He stated, "You all know how important the Ryder Cup is for me, so that's one of the goals. It would be great to be back in the European team”.
Garcia has so far 22 professional wins to his name, he might be said to be a weak opponent but, at the same time, he cannot be underestimated, even when he is battling it out with the best in the world of golf.
