Sergio Martinez: I will beat Julio junior so bad that he will become unrecognisable – Boxing News
Sergio Gabriel Martinez, the world number one middleweight, in a press conference thrashed his upcoming opponent, Julio Cesar Chavez Junior, commenting that he will beat the young lad vehemently. He added that Julio Senior should take a picture of his son
so that he could recognise him easily after the bout.
Martinez will take on Julio Junior, the guy he has been pursuing for a pretty long time, in a 12-round bout with the Mexican’s WBC middleweight title on the line. The duo along with their teammates recently met at a press conference and exchanged some serious
statements.
Martinez, from the very first day of the announcement of the bout, has been bombarding Julio camp with his verbal onslaught. During a recent media interaction, Sergio thanked Julio for accepting the bout and vowed to beat him really good.
Gabriel stated, “I want to thank Julio for accepting this tough fight…for him. If Chavez Sr. wants to take a picture now of his son, he should because after the fight he won’t recognize him. I will pluck all of his feathers come September 15.”
Before Julio could reply, Fernando Beltran, Cesar junior’s co-promoter replied Sergio with a one-liner, “Those are rooster feathers not chicken.”
The WBC middleweight champion stated, “As a fighter he is one of the best, it will be a great fight I will train hard on September 15 and you will know who Julio Cesar Chavez is. Don’t have any doubt I will be the winner that night. Martinez, where are you
going to go after you lose the fight?”
Sergio and Julio ended the presser at a good note and dubbed the September 15, 2012 bout as one of the most exciting fights ever held in the history of boxing. Sergio at the end of the press conference vowed that he will regain the gold that he never lost.
Chavez junior, on the other hand, also promised that he will give the boxing fans a night to remember and will come out victorious no matter what happens. Sergio, 37, has been in a total of 53 bouts, boasting 49 wins.
Julio junior possesses an undefeated streak in a total of 48 bouts and will defend his title for the fourth consecutive time. The duo will meet at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
