Sergio Martinez versus Floyd Mayweather, Jr. - Boxing News
Argentinean national Middleweight professional boxer, Sergio 'Maravilla' Martinez, who is currently the Ring World Middleweight Champion and former World Boxing Council’s (WBC) World Middleweight Title holder, said that he was face-to-face with the
World Number Two pound-for-pound Champion, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. last week.
Sergio 'Maravilla' Martinez has been impressive since his first professional bout in the boxing arena. In Middleweight division he fought 51 times of which he won 47 by crediting 26 knocked-out decisions to his score with two defeats and two draws
in his boxing career.
The 36-year-old, Martinez is known of his high-force punch and reflexive footwork in the ring. Some boxing pundits are of the view that he has been gifted with the same left-hook which was declared as the ‘Specific Icon’ of Rocky Marciano.
While addressing to the reporters, Sergio Martinez said, “Floyd Needs to Fight Me If He Wants to Be in That P4p List”
Negotiations of Martinez and Floyd fight are on the cards and it would be an interesting duel to watch. Martinez is very confident and eager to go to fight against Floyd. He is coming after striking a couple of vigorous knockouts in his career. He
has now earned enough respect to keep his fans engaged and taken a pick against the world’s best pound-for-pound celebrity.
No doubt Martinez’s achievements are of paramount significance in 2010, but according to him he is not satisfied until he becomes the world’s best pound-for-pound king.
It looks as if Martinez is going to prove his point that nobody wants to face him or to at least realise the contender’s strength in the best pound-for-pound division.
Martinez said, "No, I don't feel like that's the only way to become No. 1. If Pacquiao keeps fighting fighters that are almost retired, and Mayweather still doesn't get in the ring; then maybe if I keep fighting great fights with good quality boxers
I'll be No. 1 day."
If we take a view of Martinez’s side, keeping in mind of the meeting’s central theme, it shows the object of this duel is to eliminate the effects of media buzz. He made it clear to everyone that he prefers to go against Floyd Mayweather rather than
Pacquiao.
