Sergio Moraes to collide with Cezar Ferreira in The Ultimate Fighter’s middleweight final – UFC News
Sergio Moraes will take on fellow countryman Cezar Ferreira, in the middleweight finals of ‘The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil’ (TUF: Brazil) tourney on the main card of the upcoming ‘UFC 147: Franklin vs. Silva’ pay-per-view.
The pay-per-view will be televised live on June 23, 2012. The showdown is being co-headlined by the non-title clash between Rich Franklin and Wanderlei Silva. The octagon for the event will be set up at Estadio Jornalista Felipe Drumond in Belo Horizonte,
Brazil.
The night will also witness Fabricio Werdum take on Mike Russow in a non-title heavyweight bout while constituting the co-main event. Sergio and Cezar are basically the finalists of a live television show introduced by Ultimate Fighting Championship.
The television show constitutes two teams led by top-notch UFC brawlers. Each team has four men who take on the other team’s opponent in different physical challenges. Sergio and Cezar successfully obliterated their respective opponents while participating
in the middleweight division.
Sergio, 29, is currently being dubbed as the critics and fan favourite as he is coming off a decent, in fact quite impressive, Jiu-Jitsu background. He has been in a total of seven mixed martial art bouts.
The Sao Paulo proud has nailed six opponents, five by submission and just one by decision. While sharing his thoughts about the debut UFC bout, Moraes stated, “For some, the sky is the limit; to me, it’s just the beginning. These are two great accomplishments,
fighting in the UFC and in Brazil. I will take this energy into the Octagon, you can be sure.”
The second TUF middleweight finalist, Cezar, has been in a total of six mixed martial art bouts. The 27-year-old has won three of his total four bouts by knockout and just one by submission.
Despite being a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, Cezar, also known as ‘Mutante’, will face severe difficulty against Sergio as the former is a four-time gold medallist in different national and international level jiu-jitsu championships.
Cezar, while putting forth his thoughts stated, “I am glad I get to fight at home, I want to thank everyone for their warmth. On Saturday, it’s not just Mutante fighting, it’s Belo Horizonte in the Octagon. I will make my UFC debut official and will be yet
another Minas representative in the Octagon.”
The bout will be an exciting one as both brawlers are entering in their very first UFC bout. Furthermore, the duo will brawl in front of their hometown crowd which will motivate them substantially in putting forth a spectacular show.
