Sergio Perez: Sauber need to improve pace in qualifying rounds – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Sergio Perez has said that his team needs to improve pace in the qualifying rounds.
Perez added that Sauber have to improve their Qualifying performance in order to have a good raceday.
The Mexican talked to the media and mentioned that he thinks the problem is mainly the pace, which they did not have in the last few races of the 2011 Formula 1 season and they struggled with type temperatures, especially in the qualifying rounds.
In addition, he stated that the team’s pace in the qualifying rounds is not good enough and that is their main problem at the moment.
Perez commented, “In the race we get better but then it's difficult to recover from the position we are in. Like in India it was okay to get one point but we had a bad qualifying. We struggled all weekend on low fuel. We have to improve.”
The Hinwil-based outfit driver had a good race weekend in India, where he successfully finished the race in the top ten positions and scored a single point for the team as well.
After starting the race from the 20th position on the grid, Perez came at the 10th place in the final race classifications after running in his C30 car at the Buddh International Circuit.
The youngest driver also talked about the upcoming Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Yas Marina Circuit.
He added that after the Indian race weekend, he is confident for the 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and that he is sure he will give his best to his fans there.
He went on to mention, “Who knows where we will end up? We can only do our best and see what happens. I think the track temperature is going to be reasonably higher and also the track has more grip than the previous races. I'm confident and I will give my
best for sure.”
After taking part in the 17 rounds of the ongoing season so far, Perez is placed at the 16th place with 14 points in the 2011 drivers’ standings.
Let’s see how Perez performs in the Abu Dhabi race weekend following his 10th position in the Indian GP.
